On Friday 16th October, Adur & Worthing Councils' Executive Members for Health and Wellbeing launched their Eat Out Eat Well initiative for 2015
Current Gold standard Eat Out Eat Well certificate holders, The Ropetackle Cafe in Shoreham-by-Sea, played host.
Councillor David Simmons (Conservative), Executive Member for Health & Wellbeing at Adur District Council, welcomed current Eat Out Eat Well catering businesses, including Reflections Nursery & Forest School, Discovery Day Nursery both in Worthing and in Shoreham-by-Sea, Frank's Kitchen and Artisan Cafe.
Councillor Simmons was followed on the importance of the scheme by Councillor Val Turner (Conservative), Executive Member for Health & Wellbeing at Worthing Borough Council.
Since its successful launch in 2014, the Eat Out Eat Well in Sussex campaign has awarded 18 Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates to restaurants, cafes and private catering businesses all over the Adur and Worthing district.
These businesses have shown a strong commitment to offering their diners, clients and customers delicious, healthier dishes when eating out.
Cllr David Simmons said;
“The Ropetackle Cafe is a perfect example of what the Eat Out Eat Well campaign is trying to achieve. The Cafe is a successful catering business that serves delicious, fresh food and has consistently demonstrated its commitment to offering healthy options, using locally sourced and ethical ingredients. The fact that this Cafe is also solely run by volunteers also deserves special mention.”
Councillor Val Turner adds;
“Since Eat Out Eat Well in Sussex launched in 2014, 18 businesses across the district (12 in Worthing and 6 in Adur) have signed up to this important initiative. Our Environmental Health team have worked very closely with the catering businesses across the district in awarding and maintaining Eat Out Eat Well Gold, Silver and Bronze standards. We hope this event encourages more businesses in our area to sign up to the scheme, that would support and award them in offering their customers healthier options, when eating out.”
