Amongst all her other activities, Cllr Vicky Vaughan (Conservative, Broadwater) organises Worthing Idol via her charity www.talentwithinyou.org.uk.
This year it was timed to be part of the Rotary Fair, and took place in the St Paul's Centre on Chapel Rd. Over 300 people attended. Vicky said "It was fantastic. Everyone said how great the level of talent was, and the audience seemed to love every minute."
Winner this year was Lizzie Haynes who impressed the judges with her cover of Carly Simon. She won £250 which she can put towards developing her talent which could lead to a career in the music business.
Second was Rebecca Woods also a singer. She performed Beyonce's "Ave Maria"
Joint third were Jacob Obong with his robotic street dancing and Anna Smith who gave a performance composed of show music.
Vicky added "We had 19 entrants, and the support backstage was fantastic. They said it didn't matter who won, they just wanted to show what they could do."
Vicky will be organising another show next year. Email her at vicky@talentwithinyou.org.uk to enter.
