Tributes have been paid to a community champion, Don Allen, who served Worthing as a councillor for six years.
Don Allen, who was elected to represent Broadwater on Worthing Borough Council between 2004 to 2006 and again from 2008 to 2012, died earlier this month after a period of declining health.
In addition to serving his residents, Don was prominent in the Salvation Army and chairman of Worthing Shopmobility which provided transport to thousands of shoppers every year.
Councillor Daniel Humphreys, Leader of Worthing Borough Council, said:
“Don was a fine local councillor, serving as a champion of the community while standing up for the issues he believed in and the people he believed needed support.”
“Sadly his health declined in recent years but his contribution to the town will be remembered by many.”
