Brand new homes will be built on two derelict sites in Adur, after plans were approved this week to build on the vacant brownfield sites.
Adur District Council's Planning Committee this week approved plans to demolish the former Bell Memorial Care Home in Lancing, making way for the construction of 32 new apartments comprising of 2 and 3 bedroom units.
The 4 storey building, proposed for South Street, will also feature a communal rooftop terrace and 34 on-site car parking spaces. Worthing based developer Roffey Homes have worked with ECE Architecture to created a contemporary designs, reflecting the positive ambitions of Lancing where several regeneration works are already underway.
£150,000 funding has also been set aside to improve local infrastructure. Demolition work in expected to start in February with an 18 month construction schedule.
In Ham Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, plans were also approved to transform part of a former school building and yard into a mixed commercial and residential area.
Caxton House sits in close proximity to the railway station and former Cvic Centre, which is also in the pipeline for regeneration, whilst also a short distance from Shoreham town centre.
Through a selective demolition of the vacant building's more modern additions, together with alterations and refurbishment, the scheme will see 14 new apartments ranging from studio to 3 bedroom homes.
