RecyclingBins

Recycling rates hit the buffers.

As Worthing's Labour councillors consider introducing the government's food waste scheme and moving to a 3-week collection scheme, with grey residual bins being emptied only 3-weekly, recent figures show that they are failing to meet their election pledge to improve recycling rates in the town. The latest figures, from Keep Britain Tidy, show that recycling rates has gone backwards from 43.6% to 41.8%, fast approaching a 5% fall.

Cllr Kevin Jenkins said, "This is just another example of where the Labour administration have failed to deliver on their pledges, the rate of recycling was on an upward trend and should be nearer 47/48 % this year alone. Again we can all see they have taken their eye of the ball and their lack of leadership and due diligence to delivery the core services that this town rightly deserves."
