Bohunt Education Trust (BET) was today selected by the Department for Education (DfE) to lead the new secondary school in Broadwater, with West Sussex County Council welcoming the announcement.
South of England based BET currently runs Bohunt School in Hampshire, which is rated Outstanding in every category by Ofsted and is the Times Educational Supplement School of the Year.
Bohunt received its best ever GCSE results this year, with over 87% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including Maths and English. BET’s leadership team will now be able to bring this expertise and experience to the Worthing school, as well as proven pioneering teaching methods including immersion language, where pupils learn a third of the curriculum in a foreign language and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) education.
BET has been committed to leading the new academy since proposals were made public last year and made its original bid in the first round of applications. With enabling works underway on the site and the contractor expected to move into the build phase in October, the new school will be opening its doors to its first intake in September 2015
The window for parents to apply for secondary school places for September 2015 is currently open. The deadline for applications is Friday October 31, 2014. You can find out much more about the new school and BET by going to their Open Evenings, which are on Wednesday 8 October and Thursday 9 October, 7-9pm, at the Broadwater Campus of Northbrook College.
