Debbie Kennard served as a district councillor at Adur since 2003. She has lived and worked in Shoreham for 21 years. As a councillor for Adur she has been vice-chairman of the Community Services, Licensing, Overview and Scrutiny and has sat on the Constitution and Audit Committee. From 2010 to 2011 she had the honour of being chosen to be the Chairman of Adur District and thoroughly enjoyed promoting and meeting the residents who bring and do so much into the District.
Debbie's chosen charities for that year were the MS Treatment Centre, The Gateway Club (for adults with learning disabilities) and the Shoreham Lifeboat and she raised £5,000 for these worthwhile charities who give great service to the community.
She currently sits on the board of the MS Treatment Centre and is a governor at Eastbrook School. She is also a director and chairperson of a dynamic youth group, Blueprint 22. She chairs the neighbourhood panel in her district ward and works hard to resolve issues for her community. Debbie hopes she can expand this role as a county councillor and help to improve and enhance the wider area and keep West Sussex a wonderful place to live.
At West Sussex County Council, Debbie is a Deputy to the Cabinet Member for Children - Start of Life.
