In a few days you will have the opportunity to cast your vote in what is the most unpredictable general electiojn I can recall. Firstly I hope you take the opportunity to vote and obviously I would appreciate a Conservative vote for me to remain as your MP.
I have spent the last few weeks knocking on as many doors as possible around the constituency. I have been really encouraged by the positive reaction I have again recieved. I am sorry if I have not been able to speak to you personally yet (given I have more than 75,000 voters to get around).
As someone who ws born, brought up, educated and living in Sussex for most of my life, understanding what local people need and want is important. It has been an honour to serve as the MP for East Worthing and Adur since 1997, and I am asking for your continued support to carry that work on your behalf. I hope you have seen my work as your MP over the last 18 years whether this is at my regular street surgeries, constituency newsletters, public meetings and numerous community activities. It has always been important for me as MP to be as accessible and "hands on" as possible.
I know generations of local families in this area. I have seen all sorts of local businesses start up, flourish, and become the success stories that they are today. It is a joy to work with many of the local charities and good causes we are blessed with across Adur and Worthing. In the constituency I attend all the events that I can. Last year that amounted to 437 and my constituency work is by far the best part of my job.
In Parliament and locally I have stood up for the big issues that are important to my constituents such as upgrading the A2y, expanding services at our excellent NHS Worthing Hospital and standing up for vulnerable children and families as the former Minister for Children and of course giving you your say on our future relationship with Europe in the referendum we need.
The choice is clear; a Conservative Government safeguarding the economic recovery and a Great Britain living within her means, or a return to Labour economic incompetence under a Miliband Government which can only be propped up by Scottish Nationalists. A protest vote for UKIP, the Greens or anyone else can only result in the latter option.
I hope you share my ambitions for East Worthing and Adur. It has been an honour to represent this constituency and I hope I have earned your trust to continue my work for you.
Yours faithfully,
Tim Loughton
