We were sad to learn that four of our members had decided to resign from the East Worthing & Shoreham Conservative Association on 23rd February 2026. The Association had no notice of their resignation, and were actively working with three of them to support them in the upcoming Local Government elections as recently as the previous week. None of the four had spoken of any political disagreement that they might have had with the local Association or the Conservative Party nationally.
It is ironic that they claimed in their statement that they want to pursue a more Thatcherite style of politics, when the evidence is that under the leadership of Kemi Badenoch the Conservative Party is becoming the voice of those who espouse those values.
East Worthing & Shoreham Conservative Association intends to field a full slate of candidates in the elections this May. Our candidates will promote our values of;
- Free enterprise
- Personal liberty
- Financial responsibility
- Securing our nation
- Law and Order
- Better public services, and
- Helping everyone to thrive
In times when the political winds are adverse, our Conservative values endure.
Above all, Mrs Thatcher valued loyalty. Those who believe in the values above, should fight for them within the Conservative Party, not forgo them in the pursuit of self-interest.
Bryan Turner
Chairman of the East Worthing and Shoreham Conservative Association
