The Sompting Festival was another amazing success this year with a hugely diverse variety of attractions for all who attended. During the course of the event, a ceremony was held to rename the Community Centre, recently handed over to Sompting Parish Council by Adur District Council, The Harriett Finlay Centre. This, to mark the celebrated Sompting school teacher, who brought about marked changes to educational practices at the turn of the last century. The ceremony was conducted by Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Barry Mears, who unveiled a commemorative plaque and he was joined by our MP Tim Loughton, Adur District Chairman & Peverel Ward District Councillor, Cllr Brian Boggis, County Councillor & Cokeham Ward District Councillor, David Simmons and a number of other distinguished guests, who then went on to enjoy the activities of the many local contributors to the Festival.
