Eric Pickles’ department (the DCLG) have released figures showing how many small businesses in each local authority area have signed up to get small business rate relief. See the data here
http://www.communities.gov.uk/news/corporate/1972646
In Worthing the number is 1,145 and in Adur it is 783, both of which equate to 37% of the business premises in each authority. This puts both Worthing and Adur at joint 31st of the 326 authorities listed. Local Councils like this scheme, as it is funded by central government and means that small local companies can save on their rates bill which is often the third highest cost of running a business. That saving then stays in the local economy. If you think you might qualify, then get in touch with the Worthing and Adur rates office on 01903 239999
