Adur & Worthing Councils fully endorse clapping and cheering to show our collective appreciation for our incredible NHS staff and frontline workers who keep the country going.
While we support the demonstrations of gratitude to our amazing key workers, we would like to issue a reminder that sky lanterns are not allowed on Council owned land as they pose a risk to livestock, agriculture, thatched properties, hazardous material sites and wildlife.
We would ask everyone to please do not let sky lanterns off, after firefighters across the UK, including West Sussex Fire and Rescue, raised concerns these lanterns could start a fire miles from your home and put other people's lives in danger.
There are better ways of supporting our key worker heroes.
