Just of Cortis Avenue in Worthing's Gaisford ward lies a patch of land belonging to Worthing Homes. It has always been a bit of a dump, untended and prone to flytipping. In the past Cllr Bryan Turner (Conservative, Gaisford) has worked with Worthing Homes to repair the fences and get a proper gate installed to keep the flytippers out.
Earlier this year local activist Hille Cook started a project to bring the land back into use. She has mobilised a team of volunteer gardeners (including Cllrs and Tim Loughton MP) to clear away the unwanted growth etc and get it planted with native trees and more.
They have just had some great news, as they have been awarded £2,000 by the Co-op. See the news release from the Co-op here
