Great British Beach Clean: Worthing

Today Tim Loughton MP, Councillor Val Turner and the Town Crier came together with other volunteers to clear litter from the beach.

Hurrah! not much rubbish was found which is a positive sign that Worthing Borough Council are doing a good job of keeping our beach clean.

Update on Worthing Employment Rate

Latest figures from the Government statistics office, NOMIS, show that Worthing's employment rate has further improved and is now 86.2%, the highest in West Sussex.

Latest Worthing Employment Figures

A good measure of how well a local economy is doing is the employment rate. In Worthing, the rate is 85.6%, well above the national rate of 78.5%. Compare this to Labour controlled Brighton & Hove where the rate is only 76.9%, or even worse take a look at Labour controlled Hastings at 67.3%.

We Welcome New Homes in Worthing

Leader of Worthing Borough Council Daniel Humphreys (Conservative, Offington) has welcomed the news that 482 new homes were built in Worthing last year.

Fighting Food Waste in West Sussex

Adur DC and Worthing BC are partners with the County Council in the West Sussex Waste Partnership (WSWP), and have together launched a campaign to tackle food waste. Investigation has shown that approximately 33% of the waste in an average rubbish bin is made up of food waste.
