Businesses and community organisations forced to close by the latest set of COVID lockdown restrictions are being urged to apply for vital funding.

Adur & Worthing Councils has moved quickly to update its easy-to-use online portals so that those impacted can register for the next rounds of government support.

Funding of up to £5,600 is now available for those forced to close by both the Tier 4 measures and the current national lockdown. This will cover the period until the middle of February.

To make things easier for businesses and ensure funds can be distributed as quickly as possible, the payments for Tier 4 and National Lockdown (closed addendum) have been rolled into one registration process.

The 400 businesses which have already applied for Tier 4 grants have been contacted directly to avoid the need for re-registration.

It is the latest pot made available by the Councils since spring which has seen it distribute more than £35 million of much-needed COVID support to local employers and community groups.

A range of support, including grants for businesses still trading but impacted by COVID restrictions, remains available.

Further details on how businesses and organisations can access the additional top-up grant of up to £9,000 for those in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors announced by the Chancellor last week will be made available as soon the Councils receive guidance and funding from central government.

A Councils spokesman said:

“As with previous grants, we have worked hard to get this system up and running as quickly as possible. To make things easy for businesses, we have created a single registration process for Tier 4 and the latest lockdown.

“We also encourage all businesses and community groups to review our detailed information page to see if they are eligible for any other support. If in doubt, our team is on hand to talk you through the process.

“We know businesses are also awaiting the additional top-up grant and we will release details of this funding as soon as the government provides the guidance.”
